In the Solar system there are two Planet X
Astronomers have found hints of the existence of not one, but two planets on the outskirts of the Solar system, according to a paper accepted for publication in Astronomical Journal.
«Those anomalies that we found, it is impossible to explain if we assume that we have discovered all the planets of the Solar system. They can generate a planet, whose size is at least not inferior to the Martian. We have no reason to doubt its existence, since such a coincidence in the movement of other planets would be too good to be true,» says Kathryn Wolf (Kathryn Volk) from the University of Arizona (USA), quoted in the magazine New Scientist.
In early January of last year, colleagues at the California Institute of technology Michael brown and Konstantin Batygin announced that they were able to calculate the position of the mysterious «planet x» – the ninth planet of the Solar system remote from the Sun 41 billion kilometers and weighing 10 times more than the Earth.
One revolution around the Sun «planet x» by scientists, does for 15 thousand years, so we don’t know where it is, and there is no evidence of its existence, in addition to the strange nature of the movement of a number of dwarf planets and asteroids in the Kuiper belt.
The wolf and her colleague Renu Malhotra (Malhotra Renu), to calculate the possible orbit of «planet x» six months ago, is now suggesting that there are actually not one but two such objects.
To such conclusion scientists have come, having analysed the orbits of objects in different parts of the Kuiper belt and found that there is not one, but two groups of dwarf planets, whose orbit was tilted in an unusual way and stretched in relation to the orbits of all the other inhabitants of the outskirts of the Solar system.
The first «population» dwarf planets focused on 40-42 distance in astronomical units (the average distance between the earth and the Sun), and the second — at the distance of about 50-80 astronomical units from the sun. The first group of anomalies, as they note, is associated with the motion of the planets-giants and «planet x» batygina and brown, the second with one relatively large planet.
The orbit of the dwarf planets of the second group is curved not as much as the representatives of the first «population», which indicates that the tenth planet of the Solar system much less «planet x» is either «super-Earth», or «mini-Neptune».
According to the calculations Malhotra and the Wolf, the mass of a tenth planet is comparable to that of Mars, and at the same time a heavenly body will be much closer to the Kuiper belt and other planets of the Solar system than «planet x», a distance of about 65 astronomical units from the Sun. Due to this, it can be opened before the gas giant brown and batygina, the authors of the article.
But then the question arises, why are astronomers still have not opened the planet, acknowledged by scientists and as noted by Konstantin Batygin. As suggested by planetary scientists, this is due to the fact that its orbit may pass through the portion of the sky where the bright disk of the Galaxy, whose radiance «scores» dim light «cousin» of Mars on the outskirts of the Solar system.
