«I am my own twin»: the Unique case of a girl-chimeras Taylor Mule
«I’m my own twin» — says a resident of California Taylor Mule (Taylor Muhl). The girl is an extremely rare case of chimerism, when in one organism are fused cells of two different individuals.
For the first time Taylor noticed the strangeness during dance classes when I was a little girl. In the locker room, she noticed that only she alone of all the girls along the body exactly in the middle of the abdomen through the navel is a strange dividing line. The color of the skin on different sides of this band was different, one more red.
The doctors have considered it a variant of nevus, but with age Taylor’s health began to deteriorate and it became clear that it’s not just pigmentation.
My autoimmune problems (when the body attacks itself) began around age 10 and I didn’t understand why I am sick, — the girl tells, — in addition I often feel emotionally unstable and my stomach problems different from the problems of my friends.
After many consultations with doctors, the girl finally diagnosed with chimerism. This is a rare occurrence when a person consists of different sets of genes due to the fact that in his body are the cells of his twin, joined with him in the womb at an early stage of development.
It’s a bit like twin-parasite growing out of the chest or back, but the chimerism of such physical anomalies no. The anomalies are inside the body at the cellular level and the person starts to hurt due to the fact that his immune system is constantly attacking «foreign» cells — the cells of his twin.
Because of its status Taylor Mule have to constantly take drugs that suppress her immune system, and vitamins, special diet, massage, exercise and more. But even with this complex Taylor still is feeling it is often indigestion and emotional problems.
Taylor Mule singer and works in show business, from her appearance and health depends on her career. In his instagram and on the cover it supports certain image and have to look healthy. But she says that we should not «judge a book by its cover» and she is gradually revealed, knowing that her words can be a support and inspiration for other sick people.
